CHARACTER INFO

Character: March 7th
Canon: Honkai Star Rail (end of patch 1.2)
Age: late teens/early 20s (probably???)

Background Information: Honkai Star Rail Wiki

Personality:
1) Tell us about who your character is and what someone’s first impression would be upon meeting them.

Upon first meeting March 7th, one would immediately clock her as an overly-enthusiastic, if well-meaning, young woman. She's emotionally reactive and impulsive, quick to act on her first thought and only taking time to reflect on that action after the dust has settled--assuming she takes the time to reflect at all. March is very much a "live life to the fullest" type of person who leans hard into her adorable, girly personality. Her in-game character details straight up say that she "is into all the things girls her age are interested in," which is shown in the game to include photography, selfies, journaling, new foods, sweets, adorable things, and dressing up the Astral Express's conductor. (He's a rabbit looking thing, so it's not that weird...) Curiosity comes naturally to her, and she's always eager to try new things.

The reasons for her life outlook are varied. First and foremost, it seems to be something of a natural inclination of hers. Given that she's an amnesiac (a fact about herself she typically doesn't conceal), there's not really a "nurture" argument against the idea of her present demeanor and attitude being her nature. Secondly, her pointedly enjoying every experience and documenting it with photos and journaling is due to the fact that she doesn't remember anything about herself before she boarded the Astral Express. Should she lose her memory again, she'll have her photos and writings to look back on and try to not lose this piece of herself in addition to the past she already can't remember. The memories she's built while traveling with the Express are too precious to lose. And, finally, she's taken the way of Trailblazing to heart: explore, understand, establish, and connect. She wants to try new things, better understand the worlds she visits, and help people out where it's needed. Sometimes she takes it a bit far and sometimes she falls short of the Trailblazing ideal, but she generally does mean as well as she comes off.

2) What is a driving force your character has? What goals do they have, what motivates them, etc?

More than anything, March wants to reconnect with her past and learn about who she truly is. Beneath all of the excitability and quirky cuteness is a girl who is also sad and scared--her character lore states as much explicitly, and there are a few moments in the game where March falls quiet and wistfully wonders about herself and her past. Additionally, at one point in the Xianzhou Luofu the opportunity to look into her subconsciousness/destiny for some hints of her past arises, she jumps at the chance to take it.* She's learned much about the universe around her in her travels, but has not learned anything else about herself. While she keeps her chin up and hopes that the next world will find answers that the previous one didn't, it's still a thought that keeps her up at night. Who was she before? What kind of person was she? Will she ever find her past, or will it continue to remain unknown among the stars?

*Results inconclusive. Hoyoverse hasn't releasing that part of her character story yet.

3) What are their flaws as a character? What is something they've messed up, or have done that they regret?

Her enthusiastic and impulsive nature is something of a double-edged sword. While it generally makes her friendly and approachable, it also makes her hotheaded and prone to putting herself into danger. She often runs ahead of the group while confronting an enemy or investigating something urgent, an act that has put her into mortal peril--and even nearly taking a devastating blow is not enough to discourage her from doing it again in a later part of the game. She also holds grudges like no one's business, even over petty things. She refers to another character as "evil" for being something of a duplicitous, underhanded ally who has helped and hindered her in equal measure, and she gets angry at a group of children for forcing her to play hide and seek in order to have them tell her what she wants. As of this writing, she has forgiven neither.

Regrets, meanwhile, are something of a difficult subject for her. How can someone have regrets if they don't even remember who they were before? If anything, she regrets not being able to find more clues about her past--but that won't stop her from continuing her search for herself.

4) Optional: What is something unique and interesting about them, or what is a fun little tidbit that sets them apart from the crowd?

I LOVE HER. SHE MAKES CUTE THINGS AND WEAPONS OUT OF MAGICAL ICE. WHAT MORE DO YOU NEED?

Abilities & Inventory:

Abilities
  • Six-Phased Ice: Creates a crystalline, ice-like structure into any shape she desires. March largely uses this to create arrows and weapons for herself. The upper limits of this ability are unknown (thanks, four-month-old game!), but I'm going to restrict this ability to the largest item she's been known to make so far: a greatsword.
  • Frigid Cold Arrow: Shoots an arrow that causes ice damage to an enemy.
  • The Power of Cuteness: Provides an ally with a shield that can absorb damage.
  • Glacial Cascade: Uses Six-Phased Ice to create a bunch of bunnies that rain down and deal ice damage over an area on impact. This has a 50/50 chance of freezing the enemy.
  • Girl Power: Counters on behalf of a shielded ally when they are attacked by an enemy.
  • Freezing Beauty: Shoots an arrow upward that comes down on the enemy and freezes it.

  • Inventory
  • Outfit
  • Camera
  • Cell Phone (not to be confused with her shellphone)
  • Bow

  • ARMADA SELECTION

Paladins. March benefits greatly from an external sense of structure (since she's not great at regulating herself), and the Paladins are much more likely to give her than the Corsairs are. She'll probably fall in with the more 'let's explore, chart, and preserve new areas' sorts of Paladins, although she'll also help enforce law and order if needed--assuming she agrees that said law and order is just. If the person enforcing the law is corrupt or abusing their position, she's joining in with the Corsairs on that issue.
